• KTM engines from 2008 onwards use a hydraulic tensioner for timing. That is, the oil pressure generated by the oil pump, pushes the tensioner and causes the chain to take tension.

• The problem with the hydraulic tensioners is that when the pump loses oil pressure or the oil is very thin due to high temperatures, this tensioner can lose strength, leaving the timing chain loose with fatal consequences.

• Dirt Tricks developed this new timing chain tensioner simple, effective and foolproof.

• It works like the standard hydraulic tensioner, when it receives oil pressure, it pushes the chain to tighten it, but inside, contains a mechanical ratchet system so that, even if oil pressure is lost, it never loosens the chain.
